TUM Sustainability Day 2024
TUM is committed to a sustainable future and sent out a clear signal with the TUM Sustainability Day: We aim to walk our talk! We activated the resources of our entire university community in the field of sustainability.
On June 12th, 2024 over 150 initiatives from all areas of sustainability presented themselves at the TUM Sustainability Day. From student initiatives to research groups and associated partners of TUM - everyone was involved! With almost 5000 visitors, our “Sustainability Festival” was a huge success! The large number of participants shows the commitment and motivation behind the resources of our entire university community.
Spectacular Festival of Sustainability
At the sustainability fair, our "Market of Opportunities", numerous ideas and projects were presented on how sustainability can become a living reality. In ten themes (teaching and research, health, entrepreneurship, life on land, biotechnology, built environment, energy, mobility, global engagement, and circular economy), visitors could experience the diversity and potential of our university's sustainability topics and activities.
In addition, our impulse program with over 50 workshops, panel discussions, and various lectures offered participants to actively contribute to and discuss sustainability issues in all dimensions - social, economic, and ecological. Highlights of the “impulses for sustainability” were inspiring lectures by Prof. Dr. Sarah Billington from Stanford University on "Cities as a decisive factor in the climate crisis" and Nico Rosberg as a guest of the TUM Speaker Series.
We need courage for change
At the introductory event, TUM President Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann presented the status report of the sustainability transformation of our university and emphasized: "Solving the climate crisis and the associated sustainability problems is a huge task. But when I see the many clever, courageous, and committed young people at TUM, I know that we can make a contribution. The world needs our courage for change and our creative power more than ever!"
The role of universities and how they contribute to shaping sustainable development on a scientific, economic, ecological, and social level was discussed intensively in the central panel discussions.

Sustainability Day 2022
Whether in research, teaching or entrepreneurship, there were many sustainability topics to discover at TUM's first Sustainability Day. We invited students, employees, alumni and anyone who wanted to learn more about sustainability at TUM to network and get involved at events at all of the university's locations.
The Sustainability Day accompanies TUM's transformation into a more sustainable university. On this day, the TUM Sustainable Futures Strategy 2030 has been presented publicly for the first time. It charts our common path to a sustainable future - with specific and tangible measures.
Organization
