The Living Lab Summit builds on the collaboration between TUM and Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, following the inaugural event held at Stanford in October 2025.
In April 2026, TUM hosted the second summit, bringing together representatives from more than 20 partner universities worldwide to strengthen collaboration on living labs as platforms for experimentation, knowledge transfer, and innovation in sustainable urban transformation.
Over the course of the Summit, participants exchanged experiences, explored best practices, and developed new opportunities for collaboration. Discussions focused on how universities can better connect research, education, campus development, and societal partnerships to address complex sustainability challenges and accelerate the translation of knowledge into practice.
The Summit further strengthened the international network of institutions committed to advancing sustainability through living lab approaches.
