The Sustainability Office at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) is your first point of contact for sustainability at TUM.
We coordinate the implementation of the TUM Sustainable Futures Strategy, oversee the monitoring of measures, and ensure transparent reporting. We pursue a holistic approach, recognizing that ecological boundaries, economic resilience, and social equity are deeply interconnected.
Together with the entire TUM community and our (inter)national partners, we are committed to driving society's sustainable transformation and leading by example as an institution, fostering a new sense of responsibility for a sustainable future.

TUM Sustainability Day 2026 - 29.04.2026
With the TUM Sustainability Day on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Campus Garching, TUM underscores its role as a driving force for sustainable development in our society.
Under the motto “We walk the talk,” students, researchers, faculty, and staff from operations and administration present their projects. In addition, an interactive program featuring more than 60 formats awaits you – from workshops and guided tours to panel discussions and keynotes by renowned experts from academia and industry.
The TUM Sustainability Day is open to the entire TUM Community as well as the general public.
Everyone is warmly invited to learn, exchange ideas, and actively contribute to shaping the sustainable development of our university

Sustainability Day 2026

At the TUM Sustainability Day, the Technical University of Munich presents sustainability as a key technological and transformational challenge. Research, teaching, students, operations, administration, and practice partners showcase concrete solutions for the society of tomorrow — from idea to implementation.

The Technical University of Munich is pursuing sustainability and climate neutrality through its TUM Sustainable Futures Strategy 2030 and has been reporting transparently and in a data-driven manner on its progress since 2024 in the TUM Sustainable Futures Report.

Climate Action at TUM

TUM is actively committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Our Climate Protection Management reviews the activities and infrastructure of our university to reduce emissions.

About us

Together, the TUM Sustainability Office with its four Green Offices, the Vice President Sustainable Transformation, the Sustainability Board, and the Taskforce Sustainable Campus are driving TUM’s sustainable transformation – embedding sustainability in university governance and promoting climate action as well as the active engagement of the TUM Community.
Mobility

In the PRIMA project, science and administration are jointly developing sustainable solutions for the operational mobility of our university community. A Travel Policy will promote and anchor sustainable mobility decisions in the future.
